It also provides agricultural facilities liken construction of ponds and tanks, maintenance of irrigation systems, etc. It is responsible for the development of human resources by providing schools for children and facilities for adult education as well as technical and vocational training. It is the the duty of village Panchayats to ensure that government development schemes are implemented effectively in the villages. It also empowers women by organising self-help groups.
