Solution

Total students = Total outcomes, n(S)=40

Number of girls, n(G)=25

Number of boys, n(B)=15

Probability, P=No. of outcomestotal no. of outcomes

(i) Probability of getting a girl, P(G)=No. of GirlsTotal students=n(G)n(S)=2540=58

(ii) Probability of getting a boy, P(B)=No. of BoysTotal no. of students=n(B)n(S)=1540=38
