There are 44 books arranged in a row in a library. A book on ancient history is 21st from the left side of the row and a book on political history is 15th from the right side of the row. What is the total number of books between the books on ancient and political history?
Adding the position of the books on ancient and political history, we get:
Ancient histroy + Political history
= 21 + 15
= 36
Hence, 36 should be less than the total number of books.
∴ The number of books in between the books on ancient and political history
= Total number of books – (Position of the book on ancient history from left + Position of the book on political history from right)
= 44 – (21 + 15)
= 44 – 36
= 8
