The thyroid cartilage has a V-shaped notch on its ventral surface called the thyroid notch. This cartilage supports the larynx at the ventral surface and few parts of the lateral surface.
Cricoid cartilage is a signet ring shaped cartilage situated below the thyroid cartilage.
Arytenoid cartilages are a pair of pyramidal cartilages which supports the larynx at the back. Corniculate cartilages are two small node like elastic cartilages which are located at the upper end of arytenoid cartilages. Corniculate cartilages are also called cartilages of Santorini.
