Part 1: Bell jar experiment
Joseph Priestley conducted the bell jar experiment. The aim of this experiment was to prove that plants restore to the air whatever breathing animals and burning candles remove. In this experiment he used a candle, mouse and a plant. The experiment was performed within an-airtight bell jar.
Part 2: Methods to light up the candle
There are several methods through which we can light the candle without disturbing the set-up:
a. Focusing the sunlight beams with a mirror onto the candle wick.
b. By electric spark.
c. Focusing a light from either side using a converging lens.
