Solve for the required fraction:
Given that one couch takes $\frac{4}{9}$ of the wall and the other takes $\frac{1}{5}$ of the wall.
$∴$ Total fraction of wall covered by couches $\begin{array}{cl} = & \frac{4}{9} + \frac{1}{5} \end{array}$
$\begin{array}{cl} = & \frac{5 \times 4 + 1 \times 9}{45} \\ = & \frac{29}{45} \end{array}$
Hence, $\frac{29}{45}$ of the wall is covered by couches.
