The elements which have 1, 2, 3 electrons in their outermost shell it’s valency is 1, 2, 3 respectively But if the number of electrons in their outermost shell is 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 then their valency will be ( 8 – number of electron )

Example : Let’s consider an element which has 6 outermost electrons in its outermost shell so it’s valency will be 8 – 6 = 2
