The correct option is D 5 km

Since all the points lie on x axis, let us consider the x axis as a number line.

Hence the distance between A and C will be the sum of the distances between A and 0, 0 and B and B and C.
Distance between A and 0 is |-2| = 2 km
Distance between 0 and B is |2| = 2 km
Distance between B and C is |1| = 1 km

Total distance is 5 km.
