Reflex action:

  1. A spontaneous, automatic response to a stimulus that occurs without any conscious effort of the CNS, is known as a reflex action.
  2. There are two types of reflex actions- natural reflex action and Acquired reflex action.

Natural reflexes or unconditioned reflexes:

  1. The reflexes which are automatic, instinctive, unlearned, and can be evoked even just after birth, are called natural or unconditioned, or inborn reflex action.
  2. Blinking, smiling, crying, blushing, etc. are examples of natural reflex actions.

Acquired or conditioned reflex action:

  1. The reflex actions that are acquired by training after birth are known as acquired or conditioned reflex actions.
  2. Writing, riding a bicycle, reciting poems, knitting, etc are examples of acquired reflex action.
