The following are some of the myths which are not to be believed during adolescence:

1. A girl becomes pregnant if she sees a boy during menstruation.
Fact: The least chance of getting pregnant is during menstrual phase. This is because the egg which needs to get fertilized in order to be pregnant, sheds off alongwith its endometrium resulting in menstruation.
2. At the age of adolescence, you can eat as much junk food as you wantbecause you can burn it off easily.
Fact: Most of the obesity cases are observed in teenagers and the rate of obesity has tripled in teenagers since 1980.
3. Teenagers do not need to sleep.
Fact: They need sleep as much sleep as other people need.
4. A girl can become pregnant by oral sex and anal sex.
Fact: Anus and rectum are not connected to reproductive system.
5. Drinking high caffeine drinks such as red bull, mountain dew lowers the sperm count.
Fact: Sperm count can be lowered by other physical trauma but not by drinking these kind of drinks.
6. Virginity is lost by a pap smear ( test for cervical cancer).
Fact: Virginity is lost only by sexual experience.
