Breadth of the hall $=40m$

$\Rightarrow$ Area of the hall $=50m\times 40m=2000m^2$

i.e., Area of bigger rectangle $=2000m^2$---(1)

It is given that, width of the $=5m$

$\Rightarrow$ Inside the hall,

length $=50m-2\times 5m=50m-10m=40m$

breadth $=40m-2\times 5m=40m-10m=30m$

$\Rightarrow$ Area of the inside the hall $=40m\times 30m=1200m^2$

i.e., Area of smaller rectangle $=1200m^2$--(2)

Now,

Area of verandah $=$ area of bigger rectangle $-$ area of smaller rectangle

$=2000m^2-1200m^2$
