Question

There is barrier to rotation about C2C3 bond in 1,3 - butadiene.
If this is true enter 1, else enter 0.

Solution

In 1, 3- butadiene, rotation about C2C3 bond is not free as in case of butane. The restriction to rotation arises due to delocalization of pi electrons. Due to the above delocalization, C2C3 bond acquire same partial double bond character and free rotation is prevented.
