Question

There is free space all around outside the earth. Up, down, left and right. Earth doesn't go up and down due to its orbit around the sun. What is that force/field which keeps the sun steady at its constant place? If we take a metal ball outside the earth in free space we can push it anywhere and it doesn't get attracted to Sun/Earth whereas Earth is in its orbit around the sun due to gravitation. Why?

Dear Student,

The sun is not steady at its constant place, it rotate around the centre of the milky way. However, it remains stationary relative to the solar system. This is because the mass of the sun contains 98.8% mass of the total solar system. which keeps it steady at its position.
Eg. If a truck and bicycle apply same force on each other, it is natural that the bicycle will get pulled towards the truck.

In later part, if you push a metal ball in the space, it will still have a force of attraction from sun and earth. Because every thing in this universe attracts every other what ever it is.
However as this metal ball is outside the gravitational field of earth, it still have same relative velocity with sun. so it wont get pulled to the sun/earth..Force of attaction by sun and earth will still be there.
