1. The Ganges river dolphin can only live in freshwater. In the last few decades, the level of pollution in the river Ganges has been increased in significant amount.
2. The disposal of untreated sewage, industrial wastage, traditional rituals has contaminated the water which makes the survival of dolphin difficult. Hence, they started dying.
3. The Ganges river dolphin is important because it is a reliable indicator of the health of the entire river ecosystem.
