Solution

The correct option is C The work done is independent of the path
followed
A thermodynamic system in which the system acquires the initial conditions after undergoing series of changes is called a cyclic process. During this process

From First Law of Thermodynamics, q=u+w
Since u=0
1.) Heat absorbed by the system q = +ve, work done W=+ve
2.) Heat lost by the system q = -ve, work done W = -ve
3.) No heat exchange (Hypothetical assumption) q = no change and W =0
4.) Work is a path variable, i.e. it is determined by calculating the area enclosed in the curve.

Hence, the work done in the cyclic process cannot be independent of the path.
