Think Line: is the concept of active and passive citizen of France was against the democratic set up?

Active Citizens: Only men above 25 years of age who paid taxes equal to at least 3 days of a labourer’s wage were given the status of active citizens. Only they had the right to vote.
Passive Citizens: Whereas, the remaining men as well as all the women of France who were not entitled to vote were called Passive Citizens.

Yes,the concept of active and passive citizens was against the democratic set up. In democratic set up, all men and women have right to vote. Right to vote is one of the fundamental right of the citizen of the country.
