Thirty articles are bought at Rs.450 each. If one-third of these articles be sold at 6% loss; at what price must each of the remaining articles be sold in order to make a profit of 10% on the whole ?
C.P. of one article = Rs. 450
C.P. of 30 articles = Rs. 450 ×30 = Rs. 13500
C.P. of 13articles=Rs.450×303=Rs.4500
Loss of 6%
∴ S.P. of 10 articles = C.P.×(100−Loss100
= Rs. 4500×(100−6)100
= Rs. 4500×94100=Rs.4230
C.P. of remaining articles = Rs. 4500 ×20=Rs.9000
Profit on the whole = 10%
∴ Total S.P. of 30 articles
= Rs. 13500×(100+10)100
= Rs. 13500×110100=Rs.14850
∴ S.P. of remaining 20 articles
= Rs. 14850 -4230 = Rs. 10620
∴ S.P. of 1 article = Rs. 1062020 = Rs. 531
