Solution

(i) The most number of cars were made in the year 2007.

The pictograph shows eight pictures of cars in the year 2007, and each picture represents 10000 cars.

∴ Number of cars made in the year 2007 = 8 × 10000 = 80000

(ii) The least numbers of cars were made in the year 2004.

The pictograph shows three pictures of cars in the year 2004, and each picture represents 10000 cars.

∴ Number of cars made in the year 2004 = 3 × 10000 = 30000

(iii) The pictograph shows eight pictures of cars in the year 2007, and six pictures of cars in the year 2006.

Also, each picture of car represents 10000 cars.

∴ Number of cars made in the year 2007 = 8 × 10000 = 80000

Number of cars made in the year 2006 = 6 × 10000 = 60000

Difference between the numbers of cars made = 80000 − 60000 = 20000

Thus, 20000 more cars were made in the year 2007 than in the year 2006.

(iv) Each picture of a car represents 10000 cars.

The pictograph shows three pictures of cars in the year 2004, four pictures of cars in the year 2005, six pictures of cars in the year 2006 and eight pictures of cars in the year 2007.

Number of cars made in the year 2004 = 3 × 10000 = 30000

Number of cars made in the year 2005 = 4 × 10000 = 40000

Number of cars made in the year 2006 = 6 × 10000 = 60000

Number of cars made in the year 2007 = 8 × 10000 = 80000

Total number of cars made altogether = 30000 + 40000 + 60000 + 80000 = 210000
