Solution

Assertion-Reason relation
In vertebrates, liver is the largest gland in the body. The liver secretes some metabolic wastes such as bilirubin, biliverdin, cholesterol and vitamins etc. Most of these substances get degraded and are excreted out along with urine. It performs as an accessory organ for excretion.

Hence, assertion statement is correct.

Kidneys are the main excretory organ in our body. Some of the substances produced by liver and discharged into the blood are excreted out through filtration of blood by kidney.

However, liver doesn’t help in the process of secretion of urine. The urine is produced as a result of ultra filtration, reabsorption and selective secretion by the nephrons.

It is excreted out through the urethra. Hence, the reason is incorrect.
