Assertion-Reason relation

Organisms belonging to the phylum Porifera are commonly called sponges and they live usually in marine habitats. The characteristic presence of lots of pores throughout their body is the reason behind them being called as poriferans (pore-bearing). Hence the assertion is true.

There is a water canal system which starts from ostia and ends at the osculum. This facilitates gathering enough nutrients, removal of waste products and exchange of respiratory gases using the surrounding water. Hence the given reason is true but it does not justify the assertion.
