Tho parallel sides of a trapezium are in the ratio 3 : 4. If the distance between the parallel sides Is 9 dm and its area is $126d{m}^2$, find the lengths of its parallel sides.

Let parallel sides of trapezium be a=3x b =4x Distance between parallel sides, h =9 dm area of trapezium $=126d{m}^2$

$\therefore \frac{1}{2}(a+b)\times h=126$

$\frac{1}{2}(3x+4x)\times 9=126$

$7x\times 9=126\times 2$

$x=\frac{126\times 2}{7\times 9}$

x=4

$\therefore a=3x=3\times 4=12dm$

$b=4x=4\times 4=16dm$

$\therefore$ 12 dm, 16 dm
