Here, there are three right-angled triangles, namely CA1C1,CA2C2,C1B1C2.

In CA1C1,
A1C1=ca,CC1=c+a
Using Pythagoras theorem, A1C=(c+a)2(ca)2
Similarly, in CA2C2
A2C=(b+a)2(ba)2
and in C1B1C2, B1C2=(c+b)2(cb)2

Now, A1A2=B1C2
A1C+A2C=B1C2
(c+a)2(ca)2+(b+a)2(ba)2
=(c+b)2(cb)2
1b+1c=1a
