Volume of a cube = (side)^3

Volumes of a three smaller cubes = Volume of larger cube

x^3 + (8)^3 + (10)^3 = (12)^3
x^3 + 512 + 1000 = 1728
x^3 = 1728 - 1512
x^3 = 216
x = 6
