As all the bulbs are identical So,

According to this question in first case

Voltage across bulbs =E2 (By voltage divider rule)

So, R=V2P=E24P

When S is closed effective resistance of B and C

=R×RR+R(com)=R2

So,

the voltage across B

B=R23R2E=E3(Byvoltagedriverrule)

Now the power consumed by B

B=(E3)2R=E2×4P9×E2=4P9

Hence, Option D is the correct answer.
