Three liquids are given to you. One is hydrochloric acid, another is sodium hydroxide and third is a sugar solution. How will you identify them? You have only turmeric indicator

• Pour 3 solution dropwise on turmeric indicator​

• If solution turns red, it is Sodium hydroxide solution. ​

• Now put a few drops of remaining two solutions one by one on the turmeric indicator which turned red.​

• The hydrochloric acid solution will neutralize the sodium hydroxide and reverse the change in turmeric indicator from red to yellow.​

• The sugar solution is neutral and will not show any change in colour of turmeric indicator which has turned red.
