Motivation is the method of inspiring employees to work hard for the achievement of the organizational goals.

Maslow has developed a classification of human needs known as Hierarchy of Needs. Accordingly, human needs can be classified into five categories. They are as follows:

1. Physiological needs
2. Safety needs
3. Social needs
4. Esteem needs
5. Self-actualisation needs
