The correct option is B 1/3 m towards right

The centre of mass cannot move at all. All the forces are internal forces so, the centre of mass will remain at the same place.

The centre of mass from the planck will be

xcm=mAxA+mBxB+mcxCmA+mB+mC+M

Position of centre of mass before exchange :

xcm1=40×(2)+50×0+60×240+50+60+90

=16m

Position of centre of mass after exchange :

xcm2=60×(2)+50×0+40×240+50+60+90

=16m

xcm1xcm2=16(16)

=26

=13m

So, the centre of mass will shift 1/3m towards right.
