Three numbers are in the ratio 4 : 5 : 6. If the sum of the largest and the smallest equals the sum of the second and 55, find the numbers. [3 MARKS]

Answer: 0.5 Mark each

Let the numbers be 4x, 5x and 6x.

4x + 6x = 5x + 55 [Given]

10x = 5x + 55

5x = 55

x = 11

So, numbers are, smallest number = 4x = 44

Largest number = 6x = 66

Other number = 5x = 55
