Open in App
Solution

Let the number be y.

Step 1:––––––

Twice of the number, i.e., 2y

Step 2:––––––

Sum of twice the number and four, i.e., 2y+4

Step 3:––––––

Three times the sum of twice the number y and 4, i.e., 3×(2y+4)
=3(2y+4)

Step 4:––––––

Three times the sum of twice of number y and four is eighteen, i.e., 3(2y+4)=18

3(2y+4)=18
Dividing both sides by 3,

3(2y+4)3=183

2y+4=6
Subtracting 4 from both sides of the equation,

2y+44=64

2y=2
Dividing both sides by 2,

2y2=22

y=1

Therefore, the number is 1.
