The Mughal emperor Akbar also supported literature and had literary treasures in his courts, such as Sheikh Mubarak, Abul Fazle, and Faizi.
  • Abu-l-Fazl published Akbar Nama, a history of Akbar's reign that included an account of his predecessors. This work preserves its uniqueness by highlighting minute details of the Indian customs and traditions throughout Akbar's reign. He also wrote Ain-i-Akbari, which discusses the administration of the empire during Akbar's reign.
  • Akbar translated Ramayana, Mahabharata, Panchatantra, and Raj Tarangini into Persian.
Another Mughal ruler who promoted literature was Jahangir.
  • He spoke Persian, Hindi, and Turkish fluently and was a scholar.
  • He penned his biography, Tuzuk-i-Jahangir in Persian.
  • Jahangir patronised different scholars, including Hindi scholars in his court, such as Rai Manohar, Bhishan Das, and Keshav Das.
Finally, Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal Emperor, was a literature lover.
  • The most well-known songs composed during his reign are Padshah Nama by Abdul Hamid Lahori and Shah Jaha Nama by Muhammad Sadiq.
  • When it comes to Islamic law, Aurangzeb wrote the Fatwa-i-alamgiri.
