Solution

The correct option is B Lowers Ca2+ level in blood
When the blood calcium level rises above the normal level, the parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland releases a polypeptide enzyme made up of 32 amino acids named thyrocalcitonin in order to bring the blood calcium level under normal range. Thyrocalcitonin lowers the calcium ion level in the blood by increasing the absorption of calcium in the bone and reducing the absorption of calcium in the kidneys and the intestines. Thyrocalcitonin neutralizes the effect of parathyroid hormone, thus lowering the blood calcium level in blood.
