(-8)+(-13)___(-8)-(-13)

Open in App
Solution

Finding the required symbol to make the expression true

Let the integers on left side of the blank be L.H.S. and integers on the right side be R. H. S.

Taking L.H.S.

(-8)+(-13)

=-21 [Since , both the integers are negative, then we will add them and put the negative sign with the result]

Taking R.H.S.

(-8)-(-13)

To subtract an integer, we add its additive inverse.

=-8+13 [Additive inverse of -13 is 13]

=5

Here, R.H.S.> L.H.S.

Hence, (-8)+(-13)<(-8)-(-13)
