Taking L.H.S.

$(-8)+(-13)$

$=-21$ [Since , both the integers are negative, then we will add them and put the negative sign with the result]

Taking R.H.S.

$(-8)-(-13)$

To subtract an integer, we add its additive inverse.

$=-8+13$ [Additive inverse of $-13$ is $13$]

$=5$
