To multiply a negative number with a positve number we make hops to the left(in the negative direction), as a negative integer multiplied with a positive integer always results in a negative integer.

Example: Multiply 2×3

Here, we start at 0 and make 2 hops of 3 to the left (in the negative direction as 2 is a negative integer),
