Removal of anthers from the bisexual flower bud before the anther dehisces is referred to as emasculation. Emasculated flower buds are generally, further covered by a bag of a suitable size generally made of butter paper, to prevent contamination of stigma with unwanted pollen. This step is referred to as bagging. These two steps are performed in order to obtain F1 hybrids.
As the stigma of the flower bud attains receptivity mature pollens are collected from anthers of a desired male parent are dusted on the stigma and flowers are rebagged then fruits are allowed to develop.
