To obtain wool, the fleece has to be extracted from the sheep. This process is called
Shearing
Shearing is the first step in processing fibre into wool. It is the removal of fleece of the sheep along with a thin layer of the skin. Shearing is done with the help of mechanical shears and is usually done by hand. Shearing doesn’t hurt the sheep as the uppermost layer of the skin is made up of dead cells.
