Open in App
Solution

  • Iron forms rust or hydrated Iron oxide(Fe2O3.xH2O) by the reaction of oxygen and moisture present in the air.
  • So, to prevent iron(Fe) from rusting, zinc(Zn) is mainly used for coating iron surfaces.
  • The process of protecting iron surfaces from rusting by coating them with zinc metal is called galvanization.

Hence, the process is called galvanization.
