$\angle 5+\angle 8={180}^{\circ }$-------(i) (Straight angles made on line $p$ )

$\angle 1=\angle 5$ (Corresponding angles)

Put $\angle 5=\angle 1$ in (i)

$\Rightarrow \angle 1+\angle 8={180}^{\circ }$

Hence proved that $\angle 1$ is supplementary to $\angle 8$
