Solution

Tony needs 4 pices of wood each of 68cm.
So total length he needs = 4 x 68 cm = 272 cm = 2.72 m
Since wood is sold in 2 and 3 metre lengths, he needs a 3 m length to cover his requirement
So answer to a) is 3 metre
b) Amount left over = 3 metres - 2.72 metres = 0.28 m or 28 cm
Answer: 28 cm
