Splicing takes place only in eukaryotes
Eukaryotic genome is different from prokaryotic genome as it is monocistronic, i.e. one gene codes for only one protein and also contain lot of non-coding region. These non-coding regions form introns in eukaryotic RNA. Therefore, eukaryotic RNA produced by transcription must undergo splicing, capping and tailing before translation.
