Matthew Meselson and Franklin Stahl conducted an experiment in 1958 which supported the hypothesis that DNA replication was semiconservative. Griffith's experiment by Frederick Griffith, was the first experiment suggesting that bacteria are capable of transferring genetic information through a process known as transformation. Linus Pauling work comprised on the structure of DNA. This included the structure of the most important chain - the alpha helix chain. Watson and Crick described the structure of the DNA.
