Transformers are used in ____.
AC Circuits
A transformer is a device that changes (transforms) an alternating voltage from one value to another value by using the principle of electromagnetic induction. It consists of a soft iron core with two coils wound around it which are not connected to each other.
Transformers are used in AC circuits to step up or step down voltage. In DC circuits, since the current is constant, induction cannot happen. Therefore, transformers are not used in DC circuits.
