Solution

The correct option is D Nawaschin
•Hofmeister gave organisation of embryo sac and also showed microspore tetrad formation.
•Nemec in 1898, while working on Hyacinthus orientalis discovered pollen embryo sacs which are formed when some microspores enlarge and escape from the spore wall and form a sac like structure.
•Strasburger while working on Monotropa, observed the actual fusion of the male gamete with the female gamete (i.e. egg) and discovered syngamy.
•Nawaschin while working on Lilium and Fritillaria observed that one male gamete fused with the egg i.e. syngamy and the other gamete fused with the polar nuclei i.e triple fusion. Thus, he confirmed syngamy and gave the concept of Triple fusion and double fertilisation.
So, the correct answer is D.
