Tulsiram borrowed some money from a bank for 212years at the rate of 10% per annum. To repay his debt he had to pay Rs 10,250 as interest. What was the principal that he had borrowed?

Time (N) = 212years=52years
Rate (R) = 10%
Interest = I = Rs 10,250
We have I=P×R×N100
10250=P×10×52100 10250=P×5×5100 10250=P×25100

On multiplying both sides with 100, we obtain:
10250×100=P×25100×100 1025000=P×25
On dividing both sides by 25, we obtain:
102500025=P×2525 41000=PTherefore, principal = Rs 41000
