Solution

The first caravan left half of the total water.
So, remaining water after first caravan =112=12.....(i)

Second caranan water consumed =13 of 12 of total water (left by first)
=16 total water
So, remaining water left after second caravan =1216
=316
=26
=13....(ii)
Third caravan water consumed=14×13
=112
So, remaining water left after third caravan=13112
=4112
=312
=14.......(iii)

In general, remaining water left after nth caravan =1n+1
Substitute n=20 to get remaining water left after 20th caravan=120+1=121 of initial water.
Thus, the remaining water left after 20th caravan =121×1050
=50 m3
