Solution

Step 1 Finding the number of blue counters:

There are 24 counters placed in a bag.

2 are red, 3 are orange, 4 are yellow and 6 are green, the rest of the counters are blue.

So the number of blue counters is 24-2-3-4-6=9.

There are 9 blue counters in the bag.

Step 2 Finding the favorable and total outcomes:

There are 24 counters placed in a bag, so the total outcome is 24.

In the bag, there are 9 blue counters and 2 red counters.

So the favourable outcomes are 9+2=11.

Step 3 Finding the probability that the drawn counter is blue or red:

The formula for the probability is expressed as,

Probability=NumberoffavorableoutcomesTotalnumberofoutcomes

Substitute favorable number of outcomes as 11 and the total number of outcomes as 24.

Predorblue=1124

Hence, the probability of a counter which is blue or red from a bag of 24 counters is 1124.
