Let common difference of two A.P.'s $=d$

$a_1=3,a_2=8$

$2^{nd}$term difference $=(a_2+d)-(a_1+d)=8-3$

$4^{th}$ term difference $=(a_2+3d)-(a_1+3d)=8-3=5$
