Given two adjacent sides 12 cm and 8 cm.
The formula for area of parallelogram is base × corresponding altitude.
When base is 12 then its corresponding altitude is 6 cm.
Area of parallelogram is 12×6=72 cm2
Let x be the length of the altitude corresponding to the side 8 cm.
As area remains the same 72 cm2=8 cm×x.
∴x=728=9 cm
The other altitude corresponding to 8 cm is 9 cm.
