The correct option is B 16 cm
Area of parallelogram =base×height
Since, base=CD,height=AE
Area of parallelogram =CD×AE
=24×12 ....(1)
now we take base=BC,height=DFAreaofparallelogram= BC \times DF= 18 \times DF....(2)\therefore 24 \times 12= 18 \times DF \Rightarrow \dfrac {24 \times 12}{18}= DF \Rightarrow DF = 16cm\thereforedistancebetweenshortersides= DF = 16cm$
