Question

Two aqueous solution containing, respectively, 7 g urea (molar mass = 60 g) and 42 g of substance X in 100 g of water freeze at the-same temperature. Calculate the molecular weight of X.

Open in App
Solution

Tf=molality×Kf
Since Tf is same for both solutions,
i.e. Tf1Tf2(given)
molality(urea)×Kf=molality(x)×Kf
760×1000100=42Mw(x)×1000100
Mw=42×607=360gm
