Distance covered per second is speed
So, we can say that their relative speed when moving in opposite direction is 10m/s
When moving in opposite direction
v1+v2=10m/s …(i)
When moving in same direction
v1–v2=1m/s …(ii)
Adding (i) and (ii) 2v1=11 v1=5.5m/s
Subtracting (ii) from (i) 2v2=9m/s v2=4.5m/s
